Castello di Ama is an internationally acclaimed winery and private art collection situated in a secluded 12th century hamlet in the heart of the Chianti Classico wine region near Siena.
Lorenza and Marco Pallanti created Castello di Ama per l’Arte Contemporanea – a series of site-specific installations conceived and realised with Galleria Continua, inviting the following artists to enrich the beauty of the place with their art: Michelangelo Pistoletto, Daniel Buren, Giulio Paolini, Kendell Geers, Anish Kapoor, Chen Zhen, Carlos Garaicoa, Cristina Iglesias, Nedko Solakov, Louise Bourgeois, Ilya and Emilia Kabakov, Pascale Marthine Tayou and Hiroshi Sugimoto.
The installations are inspired by the terroir, like Chianti wines, and follow the rhythm of the harvests. In 2015 Philip Larratt-Smith was appointed curator of the development of the project, and in October 2016 the first chapter in this collaboration it was : Topos (Excavated), a new permanent installation by the celebrated Korean artist Lee Ufan.
The wineyard has a number of restaurants and four elegant suites in the main villa and a Tuscan-style Ristoro, so no need to hold back – embrace the wine with gusto.
