Whilst half of London is still trying to ‘rock’ the Victoriana look in various subterranean immersive theatre happenings, I think its time for LOUNGE to make a come-back. So, perfect that flick and get down to Peckham to join proprietor and ‘Loungecore Legend’ Bruce. Ahhh….it makes me rather wistful for Indigo which was my student hangout on Mondays at Madame JoJo’s. In fact these were my Peckham years whilst I was at Camberwell Art College.
Back to Bruce, this guy is not just a party pro – he lives lounge, probably has the world’s finest collection of safari suits and the tunes to match – so this won’t be some half-hearted attempt at entertainment. Their site gives you a few outfit cues – “Mrs. Peel is drawn to designers like Yves Saint Laurent, André Courrèges. Men deftly embracing both the tidal wave of British Modism and haute couture tradition.” So don’t turn up in your ‘any old iron’ outfit, your 50s tea dress, or your Flashdance leotard. The dress code says YVES SAINT LAURENT.
