Leighton House, W14

Located on the edge of Holland Park this artist’s gorgeous house and studio is one of the most remarkable buildings of the 19th century. As you can see, the Arab Hall is the centerpiece of the house and was designed to display Leighton’s priceless collection of over a thousand Islamic tiles, mostly brought back from Damascus in Syria.

After a visit you could potter round the park – and go to the super swish Belvedere restaurant, the Kyoto Japanese garden….or a little further afield:

Mimino, 197 Kensington High Street, W8. I am dying to go here – its meant to be a brilliant Georgian restaurant. The things that they do to vegetables – walnut rolled aubergines and pounded pastes and big piles of green herbs. Get me there!

Windsor Castle, Campden Hill Road, W8. This is a great pub, nice big garden at the back, though for me thats not its best feature – its a great nook and cranny pub. Far from a secret though, its always busy. We saw Madonna in there one Sunday night enjoying a pint with her hubby, so its got her Royal Madgesty’s approval too.
