Last year I saw the sell-out London Road at the National Theatre which is to return this summer. Based on the residents’ reactions to the discovery of five women’s bodies in 2006 this production is set in the heart of Ipswich’s red light district. This brave and quiet musical draws it’s tones from interviews with the residents and their melodic speech patterns which results in a deeply curious and compelling sound. Delivered with brilliantly versatile acting.
