MISS MARION IN PARIS: Miwa

Minimal consumerism in the heart of Saint Germain des Près. Ring the bell and you will be ushered in a black tiny room with a fountain on the floor, at which you are invited to clean your hands, as you would in a Shinto temple. The second room can only accommodate five people is made entirely of Hinoki, one of Japan’s prized woods. Drawers unwrap to reveal traditional handmade Japanese bento boxes, ceramic teapot and the best Stencha tea. You can buy these limited edition objects already wrapped or learn to wrap them yourself during workshops – the art of wrapping is called Origata and is for members only. Or just have a chat with the lovely staff. Fascinating.

Miwa. 12 rue Jacob 6ème Open to public on Saturdays only
