It is a rare and memorable experience to stay here. If you freak at the first sight of a floral fit-out, then this Sorrento gem might be for you. It isn’t plush per se, but is true luxury in that guests can immerse themselves in a singular vision that has aligned the uncompromising blue and white hue of every light switch, tile design and chair with the architectural form. Details of every scale have been meticulously restored and maintained, so that you can kick back and live the 60’s dream.
The position is panoramic and dramatic – high up on the cliffs of the Sorrento Coast overlooking the Bay of Naples to the north. At night it is a twinkling reference point on an otherwise endless horizon. A lift descends right through the sheer-drop cliffs to the sea, the only aspect from where you can look up and see the hotel façade.
The terraces are deep, the restaurant relaxing, the pool quiet and the service impeccable – and intuitive! But to top it all, and few hotels can claim this: the setting is the most beautiful, mature botanical garden. Just no creeping about in search of Aloe Vera if you stay out in the midday sun too long…
