L’Aventure above, Vineria below
I met my mum after a mini hospital ordeal the other day and wanted to take her out for lunch in St John’s Wood. Not my usual hang out but I’d already ear-marked Vineria on Blenheim Terrace as a good spot. Couldn’t get through on the phone and it was wet wet wet so we just bit the bullet and went. Closed.
So we dived into a very expensive – eek – but very good French restaurant next door. This largely serendipitous encounter turned out to be quite a find. I mean look at that artichoke – LOOK! It had all the hallmarks of a little gem – tiny front-room ambience dining room albeit with a few nooks and crannies, very amenable service, white linen. On second thoughts, it wasn’t really that expensive, because it was worth every penny. It was so different to anywhere I’ve been in recent history and I was transported straight out of London for a couple of hours.
