I feel very lucky to live the optimum distance from The Shakespeare towards Stoke Newington (about a 6 minute walk, not too close, not too far). Buried in the houses it can’t attract much passing trade. Not to say that makes it quiet. You don’t want to live too close to a pub this good! They don’t service food – its JUST A PUB! Though they’re totally fine about you bringing in pizzas from the joint next door. Just the right side of simple its as good as a pub can get. There’s a funny little simple bodega place thats just opened opposite the pub. Need to go and check it out….
