The Warrington, a fine W9 pub

And so to the Warrington. I haven’t been for too long so I think it might be high time. I just learnt that Gordon Ramsey sold it on in the summer – yay! Not a fan. I was a bit dismayed when I heard he got his sticky mitts on it. I’m sure he looked after the place and it did need a little cash t be thrown at it – I just don’t like the man.

Quick history – an hotel in the late 1800’s, owned by the Church of England and was rumoured to be a brothel. The founder set out to create an extraordinarily lavish interior and boy did they succeed. We’ve got art nouveau glasswork, turned mahogany, ornate plasterwork and gorgeous glazed tiles – just in the saloon bar. The dining room upstairs is supremely boring. Greige throughout so I would eat downstairs. Book to be sure of a table – drinkers are squeezed here. Sigh.
