A real cracker at the London FIlm Festival was Le Crazy Horse doc. Veteran filmmaker Frederick Wiseman spent ten weeks filming at Paris’ legendary cabaret club. Established back in the 50s this still firmly occupies top cat position as the most creative and glam nude dancing show in the world. A great fly on the wall doc following the creative process, the tensions and the politics that one would expect to find in any working environment.
When dancers are queuing up to join from ballet conservatoires around the world I really don’t think this is an exploitative den of vice and moral decline: it’s polished erotica meets Sonia Rykiel – playful sexy fun – spots and stripes inclusive! The lighting designer is a true master. Sit back, relax and marvel at the legs. I mean the technique.
