On the back of last weekend’s Weimar weekend, the Southbank Centre is throwing a wine tasting evening with tipples from Germany and Austria, along with some nibbles.
So, what are they going to had you on arrival: a nice glass of Riesling, Grüner Veltliner or Gewürztraminer? No, Prosecco. What?!
On further investigation there does actually appear to be one Austrian producer of Prosecco (with Paris Hilton as an investor, bizarrely), so I do hope it is that they are choosing to serve. Not that we would necessarily be following Hilton as an arbiter of good taste…
